An in vitro assessment of two types of products showed major deficiencies in formulation and manufacture. Some anUasthmatic syrups containing ephedrine, phenobarbitone and theophylline had evidence of preelpltatlon of phendbarbltone and theophylline. Other Investigations showed that products are marketed with declared active moiety different from that used in the manufacture. Properly conducted product development and adequately trained quality assurance personnel would alleviate such problems.
