Challenges of Implementing Strategy in Wajir County, Kenya
Abstract
Since the devolved system of governance was launched in 2013, strategy implementation has attracted a lot of attention to majority of the Kenyan people. A lot of the people want to know whether county governments are implementing their strategic plans in the right way or in the wrong way. To determine the way county governments are implementing their strategies and the challenges they encounter, a sample of employees from the Wajir County government was interviewed. The content analysis method was utilized to analyze the data. The results showed that majority of the challenges encountered in the implementation of strategic plans emanated from politics and the county’s developmental policies. To deal with these challenges, the study recommended that the county government should try as much as possible to detach politics from the implementation of strategic plans.
