Strategies employed in the transformation of Njiwa cooperative sacco limited in Kenya from small scale to medium scale enterprise
Abstract
Most small enterprises tend to remain at the same level for a long time and while most of
them close down before they move to the next level. In order to achieve this, there is need
to determine the strategies to be implemented with proper analysis of the environment
they operate in.
The purpose of this study is to determine the strategies employed in the transformation of
Njiwa cooperative Sacco Limited from small enterprises into medium enterprises. The
study was conducted within Nairobi
The study is beneficial to policy makers in the small and medium sector as it will shed
light on the strategies used to transform Small to Medium Enterprises. Additionally the
study will contribute to a better understanding of the efficacy strategies used to transform
Small to Medium Enterprises by contributing to the body of knowledge concerning the
same.
The study was a case study research design. The organization of interest was Njiwa
cooperative society, which successfully converted to Medium Enterprise. A total of four
senior managers were interviewed.
The study found out that Njiwa cooperative has transformed from small to medium
enterprise successfully through identification and implementation of five main strategies;
business linkages, technology, finance, training and human resource.
The study recommends the greater involvement of government in issues that curtail the
transformation of enterprises. With this, the economy will experience a positive
economic growth.
