A survey in 1984-86 found that Eriophyes ficus [Aceria ficus] was the main pest on the fig varieties Sultani and Adsi in Egyptian orchards. The main peaks of infestation were in June and October on young leaves of both varieties and on old Sultani leaves, and in May on old Adsi leaves. The predator Phytoseius finitimus appeared in May and the population increased until August, apparently having considerable effect on the A. ficus population.
