dc.description.abstract | For a strategy to be considered successful it has to be implemented
fully and therefore strategy implementation is a very important
aspect of the strategic management process. The motor vehicle
industry is a very useful sector in the economy as noted by its
contribution to the economic development through generating
revenue from licensing and creation of employment.
The study was focusing on strategy implementation among the
motor vehicle franchise holders in Nairobi. It sought to investigate
the applicability of components of strategy implementation and the
challenges encountered in the process of implementing the
strategies. In undertaking the study, the 18 motor vehicle franchise
holders in Nairobi were considered. Data collection was done by
use of questionnaires reinforced by interviews.
Research findings revealed that motor vehicle franchise
holders in Nairobi practiced strategic management by having a
mission, strategic plans and policies. The challenges of
implementing the strategies were a
lso noted as being poor
leadership, lack of sufficient resources and unanticipated
problems, which were seen to arise in the process of implementing
the strategies.
Arising from the research findings, it was recommended that
the management of motor vehicle
franchise holders in Nairobi
should continue to embrace strategic plans in their organizations
and to execute the plans fully by investing in monitoring the
environmental conditions and putting control measures on the
