Computerization of library services: developments in Kenya
Abstract
The use of computers is increasing in information centres in Kenya. This development reflects an increasing awareness among librarians of their value. This paper examines developments that have taken place up to date, highlighting the trend and giving reasons for such a trend. It goes on to discuss factors that have affected development. An attempt has been made to evaluate the software packages currently in use. For the purpose of analysing technological advancement the author has avoided differentiating libraries from documentation centres. They are all treated as one and the same thing in the article.
