dc.description.abstractIn central province of Kenya, families fall under different structures. These structure depend on the various parameters like the education of the spouses, their levels of income, the family decision maker, how family expenditure is controlled, wealth ofthe family, their social attitudes etc. Family decision making indeed do much to explain the quality of livelihood depicted by the family. The question of interest is whether decisions are shared equally within the family. Central province of Kenya have been highly challenged by issues of family mismanagement of available resources to an extent that there has been a felt increases in levels of poverty. To be able to explain this scenario we need to understand the parameters that determine different household financial management and decision making. The overall research problem in this study is how households in central province make household decisions and what factors can be used to explain this.en
