Innovative Practices and Performance of Nzoia Water Services Company Limited, Kenya
Abstract
There is increasing need of adopting innovative technologies to curb challenges facing
organizations, exploit opportunities and enhance performance as well . The intertwined
and multifaceted water linked problems facing developing countries require innovative
and sustainable practices. This makes it necessary for authorities given the authority to
provide innovative practices that would improve performance. Therefore, the study The
general objective of the study was established influence of innovative practices on
performance of Nzoia Water Services Company Limited, Kenya. The theories guiding the
study were; diffusion of innovation theory, the Hall’s Concerns-Based Adoption Model,
technology acceptance model and new administration theory. The study used a case study
research design this is because the focus is on a single company and the respondents of the
study were 7 managers of the company. Data was collected from primary sources of
information obtained using interview schedule representing qualitative approaches. Data
was analyzed using thematic analysis for the data collected from interviews. The study
findings showed that use of new innovative practices for instance hybrid water supply
systems, automated customer care bill and payment system, and modern supply network
system have significantly improved the company performance the last 2 years. The
findings showed that the number of connections has increased over a period of years, the
number of sales has increased also during this period. The volume of water consumption
improved in 2020 compared to 2019. The study concludes that innovative practices have
contributed to performance of the company. The study recommends that managerial units
in organization need to use the findings to develop innovative policies that will be
significant in enhancing performance. The study concludes that innovative practices have

the last 2 years. Furthermore, the study concludes that innovative practices in the company
has improved the number of connections, sales level and increased volume of
consumptions among the clients. The study denotes that client awareness or capacity
building is important in increasing uptake of innovative practices.
