dc.description.abstract | This was a case study to determine the readiness factors for E-Learning at Kenya
Polytechnic, Nairobi. E-Iearning is an alternative that institutions in Kenya cannot
ignore any longer. Therefore there is thus a need to assess the readiness of these
institutions to implement E-Iearning. To be able to provide E-Iearning in any
institution, an e-readiness assessment survey needs to be carried out.
The objective of this study was to establish the key factors that determine the
readiness for E-Iearning in Kenya polytechnic
The study data analysis was done using descriptive statistics, frequencies, and factor
analysis. Factor analysis was done to determine the readiness factors necessary for Elearning
This study concluded that in comparing the traditional method of learning with ELearning
the students indicated that there are so many disadvantages that the
traditional class room learning method face. For example, the learner must be given
time to participate in an e-Iearning course, must have easy access to a computer, must
see learning as a personal advantage and for career development and must be able to
take responsibility for much of his or her own learning. Factors that contribute to
readiness for E-Iearning included the following: - the learner computer literacy, the
learners' character, and the learner's motivation. Organization should provide elearning
management support and e-Iearning culture. The content for E-Iearning
should include E-Iearning mechanisms and the e-learning delivery methodology. The
technical requirements should include technical support. Thus the future of e-learning
must be considered. | en |
