dc.description.abstract | The objectives of this study was to determine the extent of Intranet usage in
Kenya's Publicly Quoted companies and establish the main factors that favour or
hinder Intranet growth. In order to meet these objectives both secondary and
primary data were collected and analysed. The population consisted of all the 54
companies quoted in the Nairobi Stock exchange. Primary data was collected using
a questionnaire.
The study identified the following benefits of Intranet adoption; reduced paper
usage and printing, better storage, better access to information, better collaboration
and information sharing. The study also found out that Intranet adoption in Kenyan
public companies is low as only 45% of the 53 studied companies had adopted.
The main factors that hinders adoption were found to be training, security of
information, unavailability of human technical resources and staff awareness | en |
