dc.description.abstract62 intracranial meningiomas were operated at the Kenyatta National Hospital Neurosurgical Unit between 1974 and 1979. All except one patient were of African origin. 56 patients whose reoords were complete are analysed. Their presentation was similar to those seen e lsewhe re in the world, except in two respects. First there was male preponderance which is probably the results of the study being in a selected population. Secondly the majority o~ the turnours occurred on the left side. Operative mortality rate of 39% was high. In majority of cases the follow up did not exceed 6 months.en
