dc.description.abstractThe main purpose of the project is to study the root causes of the poor performance of mathematics in KCSE in Kangundo Division. The researcher interviewed the 12 head teachers, 168 teachers 480 students. The sample of the study was 660 respondents. The factors were studied under the variables below: Factors/ circumstances leading to poor performance in mathematics Methods teachers' use to improve the performance of mathematics The challenge of the teacher-student ratio in categories for the special need of each students' the researcher established that; .. The government should employ more teachers in order to ease the premise from this grass-roots. Also the government should regulate the mathematics syllabus by removing some topics such as surds and emphasis on those topics, which are developmental, oriented such as income tax.en
