dc.description.abstractThe study investigated the factors that led to poor performance in English subject in Kenya Certificate Education in Masinga Division, Machakos District. The research was set up to investigate the effect of some key factors on performance in English subject of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education. The factors under investigation consisted of teacbingllearning methods, the integration of literature English and English language, the attitudes of teachers and students towards English subject, the teachers' academic qualification. Forty students were issued with questionnaires and all completed them. English subject teachers also participated in the study, whose number was 8, and 4 principals from the 4 Secondary Schools under study. The instrument used for data collection was questionnaires.en
