One of the goals of education is to achieve gend er equity towards empowerment. This is in line with Education for All (EFA) and Millennium Development Go als (MDGs). Social cultural economic and political factors have tended to a ffect children especially girls’ enrolment, participation and retention in school particularly in the devel oping countries. Despite the introduction of Free Primary Education in 200 3 and Free Secondary Education in 2008, girls continue to be disadvantaged in education. Sexual maturation proces s has been identified to have a negative impact on the education of both boys and girls. One of the strategies to enhance and retain girls in school is the pr ovision of sanitary towels to needy girls especially in public primary schools, towards ensuring girls retenti on and effective particip ation in educationen
