An Analysis of Factors Which Inf'luence Supervisors' Motivation in Kenya's
Abstract
The study's principal objective was to identify the factors that influence supervisor's motivation in the building and construction industry in Kenya as well as the relative importance of these factors.
To achieve the stated objective, the study was conducted among the building and construction firms located in Nairobi with site supervisors being the target respondents. the results showed that nine factors motivated supervisors at that time in the building and construction industry. the factors that motivated the supervisors were in the following order. advancement opportunities, appropriate company. policies, autonomy and freedom of jobs, good co-workers, good management, job security, recognition of doing a good job, responsibility and working with people. the factors that did not motivate supervisors were in the following order. training programs authority, company reputation, geographical location and prestigious job. these results may however, not be conclusive as only
49 respondents were used out of the 200 building and construction firms in Kenya.
