The Origins and Activities of Changos Women's Group: an Evaluation
Abstract
This study aims at establishing the extent to
which structural and cultural constraints_ affect women in
Kenya. Although women are seen as vehicles for development
by the government as they form the majority of the
population - 66 to 67 per cent in the rural areas in Kenya
these constraints act as a barrier 1n their participation
in development. Their culturally defined roles which
confine them to the domestic sphere, inadequate education
& and job opportunities: limited access to resources and
decision-making over, increased workload and responsibilities,
deprivation of time for socialization are, among issues
that affect women in Development.
