This article reports on study of teachers' perceptions towards Performance Appraisal practices in Public Secondary Schools in Limuru District. A survey design was used to gather data by means of a questionnaire containing open- ended and closed ended questions on teachers' perceptions of performance appraisal practices. The responses of 124 teachers out of a sample of 155 revealed that teachers have a negative perception of performance appraisal in all areas related to effectiveness of the appraisal, while there were some variations on the role of the current practice. The research revealed that Performance Appraisal practices should be reviewed to enhance effectiveness. The results of performance appraisal should be used for promotion, salary increase and recognition.en_US
