dc.description.abstractThis project report is divided in three sections Section A ,deals with a brief discussion of Artificial Intelligence(AI) and Expert Systems. The section focuses attention on what AI and Expert Systems in particular, is all about.Also highlighted are the brief facts about building expert systems, their architecture, difference between conventional programming and the expert system approach, how they have been used and their future. The section includes also,my personal exploration with Prolog language. Section B, deals with the development of a prototype transcript expert system.This entails aspects of system design and the stages of expert system development. Only one faculty is considered, that of Veterinary Medicine, Nairobi University.The veterinary medicine course takes a minimum of 4 and maximum of 6 study years. The degree is graded and is not classified(i.e First class,Upper second and so on) like in other degree courses.en
