The purpose of this study was to investigate any significant difference between selected characteristics of principals and teachers perception of the school organizational climate, in Public Secondary schools in Nairobi Province. The study was intended to find out whether a good organizational climate in a school as perceived by the teachers, could be attributed to specific characteristics of principals such as age, gender, experience, qualification and the school factors such as size and students gender. The major factor considered in this study was the role played by the principal in creating the school organizational climate. The questionnaire return rate was 77.50 percent and 64.25 percent for principals and teachers respectively. Two questionnaires for the principals and teachers were used to collect the data. The sample consisted of 40 principals and 400 teachers. T -tests for independent samples was used to test if there was significant difference between principal's gender and teachers' perception of the school organizational climate. A hypothesis was rejected or not rejected at 0.05 level of significance. One-way analysis of variance was used to test if there were significant differences between age, experience, administrative experience in present school, qualification, school size, students' gender and teachers' perception of the school organizational climate. On testing the hypotheses, it was found that there were no significant differences between any of the selected principal's characteristics and teachers' perception of the school organizational climate. The implication was that the school organizational climate is significantly different with the age, gender, experience, and qualification of the principal, and the school size and students' gender. However old principals above 40 years were perceived to create a good school organizational climate. On the basis of the above findings, it was recommended that there is need to consider older and experienced teachers in the appointment of principals to enhance an organizational climate conducive for working. It is also recommended that appointment of principals should be based on good leadership with effective communication skills. Finally it was recommended that there is need to appoint principals who are professionally qualified with at least a degree level.en_US
