dc.description.abstractThe announcement was made today at State House as the President announced cabinet nominees. In his brief bio of Prof. Kaimenyi, President Kenyatta mentioned that Prof. Kaimenyi is a Deputy Vice Chancellor at UoN, born in 1952 and married with five children. Prof. Kaimenyi is a Professor of Periodontology. He first joined UoN in l974 in the pioneer class of the then newly introduced Bachelor of Dental Surgery Degree Programme. He has worked for the University since March 1985, where he started off as a lecturer of Periodontology and Periodontics in the Academic Department of Dental Surgery. In 1987, he was promoted to senior lecturer and four years later, he was promoted to Associate Professor in the same department. Between l993 and l998 Prof. Kaimenyi successfully completed his doctoral studies in the Faculty of Dental Sciences leading to the award of PhD of the University of Nairobi. He was promoted to the position of full Professor of Periodontology in 1998. He was appointed as Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs in June 2009. Also nominated to the Cabinet as Cabinet Secretary, Environment Water and Natural Resources is Prof. Judy Wakhungu, a member of the newly inaugurated University of Nairobi Council. The University congratulates Prof. Kaimenyi and Prof. Wakhungu on the nominations and wishes them wellen_US
