dc.description.abstract | This review concludes that pyrethrum marc has more potential as a livestock feed than most crop residues or agro-industrial byproducts. When fed at not more than 50% of total diet to sheep and dairy cows pyrethrum marc improved performance more than would be possible if diets contained similar amounts of grass hays or other crop residues. Replacing an average quality hay with 50% pyrethrum marc increased the metabolizable energy content of the total diet by 20%. Pyrethrum marc also has medicinal properties which improve utilization of nutrients by farm animals. | en_US |
