dc.description.abstractThe Institute for Development Studies (IDS) and the African Leadership Centre (ALC), in collaboration with the African Peace building Network of the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) of New York invites you all to a Simulation Seminar and Public Lecture at the University of Nairobi on Monday, June 24th 2013. The Simulation Seminar will be held in ED213 Education Building from 10.30 am and thereafter a public lecture on 'Global Militarism and Resilience of Women in Africa' at the 8-4-4 Multi-Purpose Hall starting from 2.30 pm. The public Lecture will be presented by Prof. Amina Mama, Director of Women and Gender Studies Programme at the University of California, Davis. Prof. Mama is a widely published scholar-activist and the founding Editor of Feminist Africa, published by the African Gender Institute in Cape Town. Prof. Mama presentation will explore the tension between global investments in militarism and commitments to gender equitable development. All are welcome.
