An abbatoir survey was carried out on 2431 cattle from a high rainfall area of Kenya. Fasciola hepatica was less prevalent, and less numerous in Boran cattle (Bos indicus) than in Bos taurus types, such as Aberdeen Angus, Friesian X Boran, or Hereford. Aberdeen Angus had lighter infections than the other two breeds.ADDITIONAL ABSTRACT:An abattoir survey of 2431 cattle from a high rainfall area is reported. Boran cattle had lower prevalence rates and burdens of Fasciola gigantica than Aberdeen-Angus (AA), Friesian X Boran and Hereford cattle. Of the last 2 types, the AAs had the lightest infections.
