Factors Inhibiting Implementation Of Public Procurement Act (2005) And Its Regulations In Kenya
Given the increasing competition among the mobile telephone companies in Kenya, it is of importance that each of the firms accurately gather, analyse and systematically use the information they gather to offer them a competitive advantage in the market. This study therefore sought to bridge the gap and offer new insights on whether the competitive intelligence practices were carried out in the industry. The objective of this study was to establish the competitive intelligence practices adopted by mobile phone operators in Kenya. A survey method was used. The population of this study was all the 4 firms in the mobile telephony industry but only 3 firms took part in the survey. Primary data was collected using questionnaires administered to the marketing and heads of strategy using drop-and-pick later method. Descriptive analysis was used in the study with the aid of SPSS. The study found that Cl contributed to setting strategic objectives, strategy formulation, strategic analysis, and implementation and control. It is concluded that Cl is a component of strategic decision making process in these organisations. The study recommends the enhancement of existing Cl practices by building knowledge based information systems which would support rapid decision making as well as the continuous transfer of Cl best practices in the organisations through the adoption of various knowledge transfer mechanisms.
