    Nodal analysis of linear .networks with extended application to switched-capacitor networks

    Abstract
    In recent years, much attention has been directed towards the analysis and design of switched-capacitor networks due to the availability of high quality switches, capacitors and operational amplifiers in MOS technology. Since these networks have got zero time-constant, conventional techniques cannot be directly used in their analysis. New techniques have thus been developed for the analysis of these networks. The digital computer has, on the other hand, become an important aid in the analysis of the networks.In this work, the basics of nodal linear network analysis are discussed. The modified nodal analysis approach is then presented with particular emphasis on it's ability to accommodate network elements that cannot be directly accommodated in the basic nodal analysis approach. This approach is then developed for the analysis of switched-capacitor networks in time-domain based on the nodal charge concept. The frequency response of these networks is developed from the time-domain response by the use of the discrete Fourier transform. A method that realizes more accurate frequency-domain results is then developed utilizing two opposite polarity unit excitations. Through-out the work, fortran programs are developed and simple networks analysed on the ICL 2950 computer at the Institute of Computer Science over remote terminals.
