The study used data from Kenya’s 2014/15 demographic Health Survey in reassessing the major determinants of child mortality in Kenya. Different logit estimations were run in order to evaluate the independent effect of each variable (maternal, environmental, and demographic) on child mortality. The result shows that maternal age, wealth status of the household, child’s birth size, mother’s education and mother’s religion are major determinants. Appropriate policies that aim at educating and empowering women are recommended in order to reduce the overall child mortality ratesen_US
