dc.description.abstract | The study investigates he structure of ownership and governance of companies listed at the Nairobi Stock Exchange and further establishes whether there is a relationship between ownership structure,governance structure and performance of firms listed at the NSE. The population of study comprise 36 companies listed at the MIMS of the NSE.
The findings of the study reveal that the average number of directors is 8,with average number of non-executive directors being 5,average ownership concentration is 90%,average debt ratio is 0.13 and while average performance measured in terms MBV ratio is 8.Most companies have 8 directors,7 non-executive directors and a 60.5% of ownership concentration........................................................ | |
