dc.description.abstractResearchers have emphasized the role of top managers in determining organization outcome. Drawing from the upper echelon theory, top management team members do the things they do and the way they do them on the basis of their interpretation of strategic situations they face , informed by their experiences values and personalities. The study was designed to to examine the influence of stratefy implementation and competitive environment on the relationship between top management team characteristics and performance of tea factory companies in Kenya. The study was guided by the upper echelon theory, institutional theory and industrial organization economic theory.A descriptive cross-sectional census survey design was adopted.
