investing heavily in it to insure that it meets it goals and objectives.
Th latest innovation is the prepaid electricity system which has just started being
implemented. This system has been used in other countries although Kenya has its own
unique social, economic and political factors that can lead to its success or failure. This
· tern implies that the service is paid for before it is rendered. Kenya power has
introduced prepaid meters for domestic use only. This technology has also been used in
other utility companies like water services in other countries e.g. South Africa. The main
question is how the adoption of this new innovation has impacted Kenya Power's
business processes.
The main objective of the study is to examine the benefits of the prepaid system,
challenges that have been encounter and the performance implications of the new system
in Kenya Power. The study was carried out in Nairobi region, basically dealing with the
commercial services division. A descriptive survey was carried out with questionnaire
being used to gather information. Staff from this Kenya Power filled in and returned the
questionnaires. Qualitative data was received and analyzed using the computer program
and statistical programs.
The finding from the research show that the prepaid electricity y tern ha had a major
impact in the company and it continue to influence the business process in Kenya
Power in a positive way, although there are few serious challenge that need addressing,................................................................................ | en_US |
