dc.description.abstract | Biometrics authentication has been identified as a solution to the challenge of accurate identification and secure authentication in networked environments (Debnath et al, 2009). In line with this, Guaranty Trust Bank Kenya rolled out fingerprint recognition in 2016.This is a technology that allows customers to log onto their accounts by use of fingerprints through the Touch ID function on iOS devices; its aim is to give customers control and confidence of transacting securely on the bank’s platform.
This study was geared towards establishing factors that influence user adoption of biometrics authentication technology. The target population of the study was the bank’s customers who regularly consume m-banking product. The study used primary data collected from 149 customers. The questionnaire was built based on UTAUT model (Venkatesh et. al, 2003).
Outcomes of the study indicated that Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, Performance Expectancy and User Privacy were the factors influencing biometric authentication user acceptance among m-banking customers at GT Bank.
