dc.description.abstract | This study aimed at understanding the effects of using ICT by the government on the level
of awareness of its citizens. The study specifically explored the effect of using county
government of Kiambu Website, Facebook page and Twitter handle on the levels of
awareness of residents of Thika sub-county. The study took up a cross-sectional research
design hence focusing on the 2017/2018 financial year. Data collection was done using the
survey method. Thirty respondents were interviewed for this study. One questionnaire was
developed to collect data needed for the study. The questionnaire was composed of both
open ended question and closed ended questions. Data analysis was carried out using excel
and R programme for statistical computing. The study found that the use of ICT had an
effect on the awareness levels of the residents of Thika Sub-county. The study found out
that the more residents used the county Website, Facebook page and Twitter the more they
were aware of the county government affairs. This paper hopes shed light on the use of
ICT by county government to increase public awareness on county affairs. This will help
the county government by helping legitimize the policies and legislations they will adopt. | en_US |
