There have been many studies in the past focusing on the relationship between ISO 9001 quality standards and performance. However, the research gap was that, the researcher did not find studies in Kenya on the comparative effect on performance between ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 9001:2015 quality standards. The objective of this study was to determine the difference between the influence of ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 9001:2008 quality management system standards on the performance of Crown Paints Kenya Ltd. The research design used for the study was a case study and the data collected was secondary data for both financial and non-financial performance data. Published financial reports were obtained from the official website of Crown Paints while the non-financial data on customer satisfaction and Product Quality (rate of defective paints per batch of production) was obtained from archived data of the firm. For data analysis, descriptive statistics that is mean, percentages and standard deviation were used. The T-test was used to analyse whether there was a significant difference in the performance measures before and after adoption of ISO 9001:2015. The findings of the study were that, firstly, there was a significant difference between the mean values, before and after ISO 9001:2015 adoption, of Return on Assets (ROA) and Customer Satisfaction. Therefore, adoption of ISO 9001:2015 had a growth effect on the two measures. Secondly, there was a non-significant relationship between mean values, before and after ISO 9001:2015 adoption, of the Product quality and financial variables. Thus, for product quality, there was a reduction in the rate of defective paint per batch of production implying better efficiency at Crown Paints. The non-significant difference in the t-test results for means of financial variables, which were Sales, Return On Investment (ROI) and Profit, meant that the performance measures did not improve after adoption of ISO 9001:2015. It may also mean that Crown paints Kenya Ltd performed well on financial measures even before adoption of ISO 9001:2015. The conclusion of this study therefore was that adoption of ISO 9001:2015 had a positive effect on customer service and return assets and product quality but no significant effect on Sales, Return On Investment (ROI) and Profit.en_US
