dc.description.abstractCompulsory acquisition is power of the State to deprive or acquire any title or other interest in land for a public purpose subject to prompt payment of compensation (Land Act,2012).This project explored how geospatial technology can be used to assemble, manage and disseminate information required in the process of compulsory land acquisition. This involved use of Web GIS for creation of a web-based database application; this would assist in making the land acquisition process more effective, efficient and transparent. Datasets were assembled from reliable sources and relevant analysis carried out, with the end result being a set of digital maps and a web-based database application to assist in visualization of the process of compulsory land acquisition. From the work done and results obtained, it was concluded that the RIMs are not updated to conform to KENHAs data. The government bodies should standardize their data on road reserve by updating RIMs to show the exact size of the road reserve. This will increase public trust on land cadastral system and government projects.en_US
