What is covered in this manual is the basics of the art and science of the physical and chemical restraint of domestic, wild and laboratory animals. Senior veterinary students, veterinary practitioners, game wardens and laboratory owners will find the manual useful. Also, the manual is useful to other animal handlers such as animal instructors, animal owners, and teachers of biological sciences in secondary and tertiary institutions. A wide range of physical techniques and chemical dosage rates is provided in the manual in order to cater for the varying field conditions of the handler. A number of illustrations have also been included to enhance clarity. It should, however, be noted that the techniques discussed in this manual are by no means exhaustive.
