Osteoarthritis is one of the common orthopaedic conditions that continue to afllict geriatric veterinary and human medical patients. So far, there is no available cure of this condition. Conventional treatment modalities that alleviate associated pain associated with Osteoarthritis but have some undesirable side effects. For ethical reasons, humans have not been used as experimental animals for the study of the pathophysiology and therapy of Osteoarthritis. However studies on animal models have resulted in tremendous insights into the possible etiology, management and prognosis of Osteoarthritis. This paper
