Out of 3,278 bovine cases seen and treated at the Large Animal Clinic University of
Nairobi (LAC-U.O.N.), 549 (16.74%) had non-fracture lameness (NFL). Foot lameness
contributed to 65% of the NFL and the commonest cause of the foot lameness
(37.34%) was septic arthritis of the distal interphalengeal joint. The data is being used to establish examination, therapeutic and preventive protocal to be followed in hospital as well as on farm herd health programs.
