A method for preparation of a hydatid cyst antigen - antigen "880" - of Echinococcus granulosus origin by heat treatment of concentrated cattle hydatid cyst fluid (HCF) is described. The thermo-stable antigen was applied in the serological diagnosis of human hydatidosis where a total of 78 "blind" sera were examined by the indirect hemagglutination method. A sensitivity of 73.7% and a specificity of 76% were recorded in the test.
