To the extent that the universe is the context of life here on earth, the analysjs of the universe as a source of meaning in architecture constitutes the first principle of its analysis. To underline the above statement it is important to develop a comparative preliminary review of a few cultures to demonstrate how the universe conferred meaning to their architecture in history. It is only possible to abstract fundamental mechanical components of the universe, understand them and their relationships wjth each other, explain how they impact on earth as a prelude to developing an understanding on how they impact on architectureen
