correspondencebetweensociodemographiccharacteristicsandchoiceofcontraceptive
methodofusespecificallyamongmarriedcoupleshasnotbeensufficientlystudiedand
thus imperfectlyacknowledgedinIndonesia.Theintentionofthisstudywastoestablish
if anassociationexistsbetweenchoicesofcontraceptivemethodsandsocio-demographic
factors,evaluatetheconsequencessociodemographiccharacteristicshaveontheuseand
choice ofcontraceptiveanddeterminethefactorsthatinfluencethechoicesanduseof
various contraceptivemethodsamongmarriedMuslimwomeninIndonesia.Thedataob-
tainedfromDemographicandHealthSurvey(DHS)datasetwasappliedinthiscross-
sectionalstudydesign.Atotalof1252womenaged15-49yearswhowerecurrentlymar-
riedatthemomentofsurveywereincludedintheanalysis.Descriptiveandbivariateanal-
ysis toascertaindifferenceinchoicesanduseofcontraceptivemethodsbysociodemo-
graphic factorsconducted.Multinomiallogisticregressionmodelwasusedtoassessifan
associationexistsbetweentheresponsevariable"choicesofcontraceptivemethods"and
the setofpredictorfactors,identifythesignificantdeterminantsandfitamodelaforpre-
dicting thechoiceofcontraceptivemethods.Theestimates,adjustedoddsratiotogether
with 95%CIofthedeterminantslinkedwithchoicesofcontraceptivemethodswereeval-
uatedbymultinomiallogisticregressionwith5%levelofsignificance.Thisstudyrevealed
lowcontraceptiveprevalenceamongmarriedMuslimwomen55.8%with44.2%,20.5%and
35.3% proportionofnon-users,long-termandshort-termcontraceptivemethodusersre-
spectively.Standardoflivingindex,respondentandpartnereducationlevel,ageandnum-
berofbirthswerefoundtobesignificantdeterminantsofthechoiceofcontraceptive
methodsamongmarriedMuslimwomen.Poorwomenwerelesslikelytouseanycon-
traceptivemethodcomparedtotheirricherandrichestcounterparts,thereseemstobea
larger gapinuseandchoiceofcontraceptivemethodsbetweenthepoorandrichwomen.
Concernedstakeholdersshouldtargettheuneducated,poor,youngerandolderwomen
and bringawarenessonfamilyplanningthiswilltranslatetoincreaseduseofvarious
contraceptivemethodshencereducedunwantedandunintendedpregnanciesandmater-
nal mortalityrates.comprehensionofdeterminantsofchoicesofcontraceptivemethods
could giveconfirmationfortheconcernedstakeholderstoevolvepolicies,programsand
interventionsformarriedMuslimIndonesianwomengroundedontheuseofthevarious
