This study sets out to explain the causes and consequences of the refugee crisis in Kenya and the impact of the resettlement programme of these refugees in Europe. It examines the three durable solution to the refugee crisis, resettlement in third countries, local integration in the country of asylum and voluntary repatriation and emphasizes that they are regarded as durable because they promise an end to refugees' suffering. The study finds out that the plight of refugees is becoming more prevalent m Africa with the intensification of conflicts in most African countries especially in the Great Lakes region. It then establishes that resettlement offers lasting protection to refugees, particularly those unable to pursue either of the two other recognized durable solutions. The study further determines that the most significant problem faced in refugee assistance in Kenya is the lack of a clear refugee law governing procedures and policies relating to this group of people. Despite this lack, the dissertation holds that resettlement provides international protection and meets the needs of refugees whose life, liberty, health, safety or other fundamental human rights are at risk. Therefore, it has an upper hand as a durable solution to the plight of refugees in Kenyaen
