This study was carried out in order to establish the importance of games and sports to students in secondary schools. It is without dispute that we need to establish the exact benefits of games and sports to our youth in secondary schools, so that we may establish a way of developing the activities and enhancing participation among the students. Who may not be even aware of the importance of the activities. With the knowledge of the importance of games and sports we can create awareness among the students and the larger community at large. I came up with this study because of commends from some stake holders of the education system who think that games are not important to students and that they should be left to students to decide as a mater of interest. This in itself is against the government policy that students should be encouraged to participate in at least one activity. This study is to establish the level to which students should be involved in games and sports and the benefits that they may accrue from the activities. The study also aims at discovering the importance of the activities to the environment and the relationship with the surrounding areas. It is with this knowledge that the study is to try to eliminate some of the distractive mind sets and ambiguous thoughts and try to convince the individuals that the activities are of great importance not only to the student's health state but also for development as a career and a source of income.en
