dc.description.abstract | Upon the headteacher is invested the weighty responsibility of running and
controlling the school, and the task of ensuring the success of the school
programmes rests squarely on him/her. His attitudes towards such a programme
greatly determine its success. The study examines the attitude of headteachers
towards the recently introduced guidance and counselling (G&C) programme in
the secondary schools in Kenya today.
In this research report, sufficient literature is first reviewed to highlight the key
concepts regarding the G & C programme, its trend, importance and prevalence
in the selected schools with a view of highlighting the problems that could be
attributed to headteachers' attitude towards the programme implementation in
the Kenyan secondary schools today.
Primary data was gathered and analyzed to provide respondent opinions on the
characteristic and magnitude of the problem under investigation after which the
findings are discussed and conclusions drawn.
The research findings are presented in descriptive statistics with
recommendations to help the key G & C programmes implementation authorities
and other stakeholders in making it popular, workable, and sustainable in not
only the sampled secondary schools in Kisii District, but through out the republic. | en |
