This study compares the Kitui north and the Machakos dialects of Kikamba. It is an attempt to identify the phonological, morphological and lexical features that differentiate the two dialects using the concept of variability. It demonstrates that the two dialects are defined and distinguished by phonological, morphological and lexical features. Neither of the two dialects can be said to be more conservative or dynamic than the other.en
