dc.description.abstractIron pyrite is a frequently occurring natural compound with large reserves. In this study polycrystalline iron pyrite thin films were prepared by thermal sulfurization of iron oxides that were prepared by spray pyrolysis. An energy gap of O.85eV was obtained. As an attempt to test for the photoactivity of this material, three different structures were fabricated: Sn02/n-type FeS2/metal, Sn02/FeS2/CdS and Sn02/FeS2 (thin)/metal. A maximum photovoltage of 2mV was obtained with these devices. The barrier height obtained for the Schottky junction was O.55eV.en
