dc.description.abstract2002 With the advent of IT, businesses had to restructure their business operations in order to cope with the new challenges brought about by the technology The businesses have to restructure their operations in order to be competitive, to have maximum customer care and to attract as many customers as possible. One of the operations affected is the way businesses manage their purchasing, ordering and stock control systems. There is a trend today on online ordering systems and computerized stock control and point of order systems for business dealing with sales. It is because of the above that this project was done. This is the documentation of the project describing fully why and how the project was done, and is titled 'Bookshop lnformation System'. The project involved identifying the problems with the current systems that are there today in the above areas, specifying the requirements of an improved system, and then analyzing, designing and developing such a system. The project is based on bookshops, but can be used by a variety of other types of businesses like supermarkets, whole sales, etc.en
