dc.description.abstractThe topic of study was a survey of members perception of UKCS services In Nairobi. Despite the fact that various people have studied trade unions but none had touch specifically UKCS services. To achieve the above, a descriptive survey was carried out among civil servants in Nairobi who were answering questionnaires. A sample of 262 respondents was selected. Questionnaires with both open ended and closed questions were administered to the respondents. Primary data was collected which was summarized and analysed using descriptive statistics was presented in tables graphs and narratives. A five point Likert scale was used to measure and identify the extent members perception of UKCS services. The study established that members perception is faced by various challenges and factors found to affect the members perception included lack of trust, lack of support by the government, lack of feedback, lack of skills, no existence of perception standards, inaccuracy in viewing and a negative attitude of the members towards UKCS - services corruption, government interferences, wrangles among the officials etc. From the findings of the study, it was concluded that members perception has been negative in most cases. It was recommended that strong measures be put in place so that the members perception can be useful for intended purposes like, promotions, improving working conditions, reward, salaries, accommodation and improvement of health and safety in work place. Perception of members is important in an organization in that when well analyse and executed, it should furnish or make available to management critical information on which decisions impact on organizations success on the side of employees, government, employers and other parties involve would gain.en
