A thermal probe was designed and used to measure the thermal conductivities of wood-ash and three grades of vermiculate, of different particle sizes. Different methods of evaluating the thermal conductivity from the transient readings of the thermal probe were assessed. Blackwell's model was found to be the most accurate, hence used for this work.en
