Fabrication and characterization of silicon solar cells
Abstract
Silicon solar cells have been fabricated in our
laboratory by way of diffusing phosphorus into silicon
through glassy layers, that is, the introduction of
elemental phosphorus into silicon through a layer of
molten phosphorosilicate glass. An electrically
conducting paste applied through screen printing
techniques has been used as a source for ohmic contact
on the side of the cell to be exposed to sunlight,
while aluminium has been used for the ohmic contact on
the other side of the cell. Electrical output
characteristics, transient characteristics and the
spectral analysis of our cells and those Df a similar
but commercially prepared have been investigated.
