Identification of the risk factors associated with HIV / AIDS is an important tool for the government and other Non-governmental bodies like WHO and UNAIDS involved with the war against HIV/ AIDS. Such knowledge can be used in planning of interventions to be used in public health programmes. Various studies have been undertaken to collect information related to the virus and analyze the data in order to identify the risk factors associated with HIV / AIDS. In this study, the statistical technique, mainly the logistic regression model has been used. To assess for the statistical significance of the variables, the pearson chi-square, Odds Ratio, Wald statistic and the loglikelihood tests were used. To select the best model, stepwise logistic regression procedure was used. Results show that the variables education, marital status, gender, age and condom use with non-steady partners were found to be significantly associated with their HIV status.
