dc.description.abstract | With the advent of IT, many companies have had to restr icture their
b rsi ess operatio in order to cope with t e new challenges brought about by the
new technology. One of the operation affected ondistribution oriented companies
i the way co panie manage their inventories. There has emerged a new
inve tory management conce t, Just I time (JIT). T is concept 0 ce
imple ented c n improve the co pan' rofit marge considerably, The s ccess
of JJT depends most y with efficient suppli er chain.
The new technology has also put pressure on the business people to
improve on customer service. This may be the reason why most of the businesses
today are putting a lot of emphasis on the c stomers care. Competition is
becoming cutthroat and ence companies ave no choice but improve on the
services to the customers else t ey go to other establishments with better services.
It is in view of this t at I developed a pharmaceutical control inventory
system to be used in Pentapharm.
The ultimate objective.was to model a system a system that would
enable the company explore variety of modern inventory management practices
that would enable them to cut down the inventory costs hence increase the net
ret rns on their operations. | |
